During your stay in John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital, you’ll experience the benefit of having your care coordinated by a hospitalist.

Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for patients in the hospital. At North Mountain hospital, all of our hospitalists are board certified or board eligible in internal medicine.

While you are in our care, your hospitalist is in constant communication with your primary care physician. The process is similar to what your physician does when he or she refers you to a specialist for another opinion or for additional tests and treatment.

At the time of your admission to the hospital, your primary care physician will be notified of your admission. Your hospitalist and primary care physician can discuss your case over the phone as if they were partners in the same group. If needed, your primary care physician may send your records to the hospitalist to provide as much information as possible about your illness.

Hospitalists assist you through a smooth and speedy recovery by working closely with every specialist and hospital department involved in your treatment. Your hospitalist follows up on tests and adjusts your treatment regimen through the day, based on those test results.

Nurses caring for you can easily reach your hospitalist to answer any questions or concerns. With a physician in the hospital at all hours of the day and night, it’s also easier for you and your family to communicate directly with the hospitalist about your illness.
